Apple iOS 5 BETA Breaks iDialog
iOS 5 BETA software for iPhone and iPad devices doesn’t play nice with iDialog
![]()
User are reporting that installing Apple’s recently released iOS 5 BETA operating system for iPhone and iPad devices is causing a hiccup with using iDialog.
User who have installed the update are getting the following error in iDialog when trying to log-in to their organization’s OCS or Lync systems:
Logon Failed, User not authorized. CWA did not return a ticket.
We’re investigating the issue and will hopefully be able to respond with a solution or workaround as soon as possible.
In the meantime, please don’t upgrade to the iOS 5 BETA if iDialog is a critical application for you.
10-June UPDATE: We have identified the cause of the issue and are working on a fix. The fix will be in the 2.0.6 update, not the forthcoming 2.0.5 update which is already in the Apple Approval queue.

-John

Is there a set up how-to, I am having trouble with the client side certificate. I can log on to the CWA server through various explorers, but not through your app?
Comment by Matt — 30 July, 2011 @ 10:46 am
Matt,
I’ll reply offline with instructions. We’ll get the client-side cert guide published this week.

What is the client certification password where can I get one?
Comment by marie — 19 September, 2011 @ 8:57 pm
Hi,
You should only be seeing a client certificate password prompt if you’ve installed a client certificate for authentication to your corporate system. In this case, the password is your password for the certificate (we don’t know what it is).

I am also getting a 1005 error. Was there any resolution on this?
Comment by Naived — 22 November, 2011 @ 3:30 am
Hi Naived,
The error message 1005 usually indicates that you are entering an incorrect server URL into iDialog. Can you make sure that you are entering in the CWA (Communicator Web Access) server URL into iDialog. This is not the same address that Lync/Communicator desktop app uses. (It should look like https://foo.domain.com, not sip.domain.com)
If you are not sure if you are using the correct server URL, we would recommend contacting your IT department and they should be able to give you the correct URL (if they have deployed a CWA server).

Hi John,
Thanks for the update. I did check the URL and use the correct im.domain.com URL that is being used. This has led to a new error – Login Failed. Not Found error.
Do let me know how do I go about resolving this.
Thanks and regards,
-Naived

Hi Nicholas,
Please submit support requests through our web site: http://www.modalitysystems.com/software/idialog/support/ so that we can track the issue.
It sounds like your organization may not have a CWA Server deployed. Can you confirm if that is the case?

I got the trial version of Dialog 2.0.8 into my iphone 4s but i get the error 1005
my server url is pool1.oconline.microsoftonline.com but it does not work,
i think is becuase of the trial version?
Comment by Miguel ortuno — 3 April, 2012 @ 1:11 pm
Hi Miguel,
The error indicates that your CWA server name could not be resolved. The FQDN you provided doesn’t look like a CWA URL. Your URL should be something that you can also get to in a web browser, like https://im.modalitysystems.com
Unless your trial has expired, the trial version should work fine.
Thanks,
-John

Hi, I having the error: user not authorized CWA did not return a ticket with iPhone 4s and your app for communicator idialog pro. Could you help me to revolve this issue please?
Comment by Cesar — 12 July, 2012 @ 3:53 pm
Hi,
I’ve purchase iDialog 2.0.8 version and use the external server name or IP adress mentioned on OCS. But I always have the “Server returned the error code:-1005″ message.
What can I do ?
Regards
Comment by Benoit — 19 September, 2012 @ 4:03 pm
Hi Benoit,
You’ll want to use your CWA server URL, not the external server address (Edge Server) specified in the Lync or OCS client.
Please contact us for support through our web site if you need further assistence.

I am getting a “Request to CWA Server Timed Out” error from your app on both my iPhone and iPad. I have used your app for a long time with no issues. I’m currently running version Pro 2.0.8 on the iPad and non-pro 2.0.8 on the iPhone. Both are getting the same error. Can you help?
Comment by Kate — 25 September, 2012 @ 7:54 pm

Update: iDialog works on iOS6 and there are no known issues at this time. The problem several users are experiencing is an issue with a CWA server being down at one particular large iDialog customer. This will only impact employees of that particular organization.

PLEASE READ if you work for GLAXO SMITH KLINE:
We’ve validate iDialog on iOS6 & iPhone 5 devices and there are no known issues.
We’re getting dozens of reports from users at GSK of not being able to connect using iDialog. We’ve investigated and found that the issue is that GSK’s Communicator Web Access (CWA) servers are no longer available from the Internet, even though users can connect to the server internally.
Please contact your internal IT helpdesk to report the issue. If you work in IT and would like our assistance resolving the problem, please contact us via the iDialog support email address.
Kind regards,
-John
